Seven Devils Vacation Rentals & Cabins

The Town of Seven Devils sits in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, nine miles southwest of Boone on Highway 105. Established as a resort in the 1960s, Seven Devils was incorporated in 1979. The Town is sheltered by the mile-high Hanging Rock Mountain and Dunveagan Peak, and is home to Hawksnest Golf and Ski Resort. There are several stories of how Seven Devils got its name. The name might refer to the seven prominent mountain peaks nearby. Or maybe the seven hairpin turns on the road between Highway 105 and Town Hall. Or maybe the ruins of seven moonshine stills found on the mountain or seven "devilish" sons of a family long-gone and forgotten or a local saying that it's "cold (or windy) as seven devils". It's anybody's guess, but the speculation is fun. Our population varies as much as the terrain. Many of the homeowners are seasonal; our winter population is about 130 hardy souls and our summer population is approximately 450. Whether year-round resident or "weekender," we all share a love for the ever-changing beauty and brisk air that provides an energy-boost with every breath. We are fortunate to be in the center of a tourist haven. Hawksnest, at the topmost point of the Town, offers golf and skiing. Appalachian State University in Boone and Lees McRae College in nearby Banner Elk provide abundant curricula and year-around concerts and exhibits. We are "eyeball to eyeball" with Grandfather Mountain (only a mile away as the hawk flies) with its breathtaking views, hiking trails, and educational programs. Add the Blue Ridge Parkway and Linville Falls, Tweetsie Railroad, the Mast General Store (frozen in time in the year 1913), and you will learn what draws our seasonal residents back year after year after year.
